Deputy Consul General Liu Jun Visited Chicago Tribune

        On January 23, Mr. Liu Jun, Deputy Consul General visited Chicago Tribune and had a talk with Mr. Gerould Kern, Senior Vice President and Editor, and Mr. Alex Rogriguez, Nation/World Editor of the newspaper. Consuls of political and media affairs of the Consulate General were present. 

                                 

        Mr. Liu briefed the hosts on the latest developments in China's economic and social situation as well as China's commitment to deepening reform and building a country under the socialist rule of law, and China's positions on several international and regional issues. He said that the Consulate looked forward to more communication with Chicago Tribune. 

        Mr. Kern outlined the operation and efforts in digitalization of Chicago Tribune and the newspaper's recent China reports. He said that the paper would present several China-related in-depth reports this year. He also expressed willingness to keep contact with the Chinese Consulate General in Chicago. 

        Founded in 1847, Chicago Tribune has a circulation of more than 400,000, ranking the eighth in the US.
