On Feb. 11, Consul General Zhao Weiping attended the Celebration for the Release of Shanghai Spring Radio Series by the WFMT Radio Network at the Art Institute of Chicago. Nearly 100 guests, including Mr. Steve Robinson, General Manager of the WFMT Radio Network and Mr. Shen Shuqiang, Director of Shanghai East Radio Classical FM94.7 attended the event.

Consul General Zhao, in his remarks, spoke highly of the efforts of both the WFMT Radio Network and Shanghai East Radio in promoting radio cooperation and music exchange between China and the United States. He mentioned that the cooperation between the two radios have built another important bridge connecting two different cultures and contributed to the strengthening of mutual understanding of our two peoples. He wished the two radios more fruitful cooperation in future and hoped that various circles of the society will continue to give them strong support.

Since January 2016, an 8-episode radio series called Shanghai Spring was on air as the joint production of the WFMT Radio Network and Shanghai East Radio. The series, broadcasting every Wednesday evening for 2 hours, mainly focused on the excellent works of the Shanghai Spring International Music Festival. The program has been well received by a large number of listeners all across the major cities in North America.
