Consul General Hong Lei Attends Signing Ceremony of Sister-County Agreement between Funing County, Jiangsu Province and White County, Indiana

On April 11th, Consul General Hong Lei, accompanied by Deputy Consul General Liu Jun, attended the signing ceremony of Sister-County Agreement between Funing County, Jiangsu Province and White County, Indiana in Monticello, Indiana. A five-member delegation led by Funing County Governor Xu Huaming and White County Commission Chairman John Heimlich, Council President Butch Kramer, Economic Development Director Randy Mitchell, Monticello Mayor Ken Houston and other local dignitaries joined the event.

In his remarks, Consul General Hong Lei warmly congratulated Funing County and White County on the establishment of their sister-county relationship. Consul General Hong Lei pointed out that the recent meeting between the two heads of state of China and the US has confirmed that the two countries will continue to promote bilateral relations to achieve greater development at a new starting point. As an important part of China-US relations, sub-national cooperation is conducive to promoting bilateral economic, trade, cultural and people-to-people exchanges and enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples. Today's signing ceremony marks a new stage of the friendly relations between Funing County and White County. The Consulate General will give full support to future exchanges and cooperation between the two sides.

County Governor Xu Huaming said that it is a pleasure to visit the beautiful White County and discuss cooperation with American friends. Funing County enjoys a long history, beautiful environment and strong economy and is one of China's top 100 counties. Funing County hopes to deepen exchanges and cooperation with White County in various fields and promote mutual visits between the two peoples so as to push forward the friendly relations between the two sides.

Chairman Heimlich said that the signing ceremony tonight is of great significance. White County and Funing County officially established close contact and friendly relations, which laid a good foundation for our exchanges in economy, culture, education and other areas. I believe this friendly and cooperative relationship will continue to develop and benefit the two peoples.
