Consul General Hong Lei Met with President Jim Schellinger of Indiana Economic Development Corporation

On August 3, Consul General Hong Lei met with Secretary of Indiana Economic Development Corporation Jim Schellinger. Senior Consultant of Indiana Economic Development Corporation Andrea Richter and Commercial Counselor Zou Xiaoming also attended the meeting.

Consul General Hong Lei welcomed Schellinger and said the relationship between China and Indiana has achieved a lot of in-depth development, and local level cooperation is growing fast in particular. This year marks the 30th Anniversary of the sister-state relationship between Zhejiang and Indiana. Delegation of the Zhejiang Provincial government will soon come to Indiana to participate in celebrations and other activities. He believes the visit will lift the two sides’ relationship to a new level. China’s economy is maintaining a healthy, fast and stable development, bringing more and more opportunities for cooperation to various sectors in Indiana. Companies from Indiana, such as Eli Lilly and Cummins are developing pretty well in China with huge success. Nanshan Aluminum and CRRC among other Chinese companies have invested in Indiana. China would like to work with the Government of Indiana and business sectors to seize opportunities to further promote trade and investment relationships between the two sides.

Secretary Schellinger said that various economic indicators of Indiana rank high in the U.S., and the state boasts good business environment and sound and complete investment policies. Indiana has always been open and welcoming to foreign investments. By now, over 800 companies from 39 countries have made investments in Indiana, creating 170 thousand jobs and becoming a pillar of economic development of Indiana. After taking office, Governor Holcomb has attached great importance to developing relationship with China. The Governor looks forward to the visit by the Zhejiang delegation and hopes to continuously promote communication and cooperation in various sectors between the two sides. The Indiana Economic Development Corporation wishes to see more Chinese companies to invest in Indiana and would like to keep close contact with the Consulate General.
