Consul General Hong Lei Attended the Chicago Chinese American Alliance for China's Peaceful Reunification Summer Party

On September 2, Consul General Hong Lei attended the Chicago Chinese American Alliance for China’s Peaceful Reunification (hereinafter referred to as the "Alliance for Reunification") summer party held at Argonne Park. The event was jointly hosted by the Alliance for Reunification, Chicago Anhui Association, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology Alumni Association in Chicago. Illinois State Senator Michael Connelly, State House member David Olsen, president of Chicago Alliance for Reunification Li Hongwei, and around 200 people from overseas Chinese communities and groups also attended the event.

On behalf of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Chicago, Consul General Hong Lei praised the Alliance for Reunification’s contribution to the cause of peaceful reunification across the Taiwan Strait in the past year. In addition, Consul General Hong stated that the peaceful reunification of China is in the interests of Chinese on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, and serves the common interests of China and the United States. He expressed his hope that the Chicago Alliance for Reunification would continue their endeavor to advance this important cause.

Consul General Hong Lei attended the leadership transition ceremony of the Alliance for Reunification, during which Ms. Wang Yaqin assumed the role of new president of the Alliance. Consul Lu Xiaohui and Zhou Lei from the Overseas Chinese Affairs Section also attended the event.
