On February 17, the second day of the Chinese Lunar New Year, Consul General Hong Lei attended the 2018 Spring Festival party of the Chicago Association of Chinese-American Scientists and Engineers (ACSE). ACSE President Minna Xiao, ACSE Board Chairman Kun Liang, Chairman Wang Xingwu of Chinese American Association of Greater Chicago and nearly 300 guests from all walks of life attended the event.

In his speech, Consul General Hong Lei extended his New Year greetings and best wishes to the attendees. He said that the Spring Festival is the most important festival for the Chinese people both at home and abroad. It was a great pleasure for him to spend the Chinese New Year with members of the ACSE. The ACSE has long been involved in the great process of China's reform and opening up, seizing historic opportunities to actively promote China-US cooperation in science and technology, economy and trade, education, human resources and a variety of other fields. The ACSE has made positive contributions to the development of Sino-US relations. In the new year, we hope that the ACSE will continue to utilize its own advantages, grasp new opportunities, continue to care for and support the development of the motherland. Consul General Hong Lei hopes that the ACSE can make even greater contributions in attracting talents and promoting Sino-US exchanges in the field of science and technology.

The ACSE Chinese New Year party was followed by a string of performances including singing, dancing, talk show and poetry recital, as well as entertainment like lantern riddles.
