On February 19th, the Chinese Finance Association of America (CFAA) held a reception in Chicago to celebrate the Chinese New Year and 10th anniversary of the association’s establishment. Upon invitation, Deputy Consul General Huang Liming attended and gave remarks at the event. Chairman Lin Hongyun of CFAA’s Board of Directors hosted the event while Chairman Doug Jackman of Thomas White International Investment, President Xu Kefei of the Bank of China-Chicago Branch, and members of CFAA and Chicago’s financial community, numbering over 30 in total, attended as guests.

Deputy Consul General Huang Liming congratulated the association on their 10th anniversary and wished everyone a happy new year. He continued, “China-US trade relations are highly important. In spite of the impact from trade tensions, trade volume between China and the United States reached a record high in 2018, coming out to over $630 billion. In addition, two-way investment between our two nations totaled over $240 billion. China-US trade cooperation has already become a penetrating platform of interwoven interests, bringing tangible benefits to the people of both nations. China’s market is vast—it presents an opportunity of development to the whole world, the US included. As the process of China's Reform and Opening-up continues to advance, the country’s financial market will open its doors another foot wider. We welcome all Americans engaged in the finance sector to take advantage of the opportunities in China. Let us work towards mutual benefit. Let us both bask in prosperity.”

Chairman Lin Hongyun remarked, “CFAA was born in 2009 after the passing of the financial crisis. I’d like to thank all those who have supported and assisted in the development of the association. This is the tenth anniversary of CFAA’s founding, but it doesn’t stop there. We will continue to work hard to promote exchanges and understanding between China and the US in the economic and financial domains.”

Chairman Jackman, in his keynote speech, gave a pointed analysis of the climate of China-US trade relations over the past few years. He said that while many uncertainties exist, trade relations between the two countries will continue to develop.
