|Remarks by Consul General Zhao Weiping at the Kick-off Reception of CSO Chinese New Year Concert|
Good afternoon. It is truly my great pleasure to attend this kick-off reception for the 2016 Chinese New Year Concert at Chicago Symphony Center.
I wish to commend President Jeff Alexander and the CSO for turning this concert into a wonderful annual event. And I also wish to express my deep appreciation to Ling and other friends for their generous support to this project.
Certainly the coming year will be another lucky year for all of us, because we have Yo-Yo Ma here again this afternoon. It's like winning another big lottery.
The forthcoming concert in February will feature the best Chinese artists from the world-renowned China Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra, which will bring truly traditional Chinese music to Chicago audience and provide a rare opportunity for the local people to appreciate Chinese cultural heritage. I am sure this concert will also achieve great success as the one held earlier this year. And I encourage the Chinese community to give their support to this music event.
According to the Chinese lunar calendar, next year is the Year of Monkey. I believe it will be an even greater year for all the artists, because, in my opinion, monkey is more artistic than many other animals.
We do have very heavy schedule for China-Chicago cultural exchanges in the year ahead. On this occasion, I also wish the CSO's tour of China in the coming January a great success. Thank you.
