Hu Jintao holds telephone conversation with Obama

    Chinese President Hu Jintao held a telephone conversation with his U.S. counterpart Barack Obama on Wednesday morning, June 3.

    President Hu said China-U.S. ties are developing smoothly. Both countries have conducted frequent exchanges at various levels, strengthened cooperation in all fields and are carefully implementing the broad consensus reached at the summit held in London on April 1.

    China is willing to make joint efforts with the United States to expand mutual exchanges, deepen cooperation, and move forward bilateral ties continuously, he added.

    President Obama expressed his satisfaction with the development of the U.S.-China relations, saying both sides have recently conducted fruitful high-level exchanges.

    The United States would like to boost coordination and cooperation with China on a broad range of major issues, and further push forward bilateral ties.

    The two leaders also exchanged their views on the situation on the Korean Peninsula.
