Chinese State Councilor Liu Yandong met in Beijing on Sep. 3  with Richard C. Levin, president of Yale University.

Liu discussed with her guest the trend of the reform and development of higher education, saying the Chinese government encouraged the higher institutions to carry out various forms of international exchanges and cooperation.

The government encouraged the universities to strengthen joint training of high-level talents with foreign universities and supported inter-university personnel exchanges as well as mutual recognition of credits and mutual or joint degree-granting, Liu said.

Liu appreciated the China-Yale Summer Seminar for College Officials, which was jointly launched by the Ministry of Education of China and Yale University.

She also hoped the university would continue to deepen cooperation with Chinese academic circles so as to promote the bilateral humanistic exchanges.
