Dear Visitors, Welcome to the website of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Chicago! China, the ancient country with a civilization of over 5,000 years, is marching forward on the path toward modernization. After the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, especially since adopting the policy of reform and opening up, China has made historical achievements in political, economic and social development, which has attracted world-wide attention and resulted in the enhancement of China's national strength and international status. As a window for you to learn more about China, this website is designed to provide information on China's politics, economy, culture, education, tourism, etc. My Consulate's consular districts cover nine states in the mid-west region of the United States, including Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Colorado, Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Recent years have witnessed sound and frequent contacts between China and the mid-west region of the United States. My Consulate is committed to further promoting cooperation and exchanges between the two sides in various fields, protecting the legal rights of Chinese citizens in the consular districts, and providing consular services related to passport, visa, notary public and authentification to both local Chinese and non-Chinese people. I sincerely hope you find it helpful to visit our website. Any opinion and suggestions will be highly valued. Ping Huang Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Chicago
