On December 8, 2008, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jieyi met with Brian H. Hook, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for International Organizational Affairs, exchanging views on China-U.S. cooperation on UN affairs. On the same day, Director-General Wu Hailong of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences of the Chinese Foreign Ministry and Hook held consultations on the UN reforms, Sudan's Darfur, the Iranian nuclear issue, Iraq and Afghanistan.
