Chinese, US FMs hold phone conversation

Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and US Secretary of State Colin Powell have agreed that China and the United States should actively implement the recent consensus reached by their presidents to strengthen the Sino-US relationship of constructive cooperation.

During a phone conversation Tuesday night, Li Zhaoxing and Colin Powell agreed that the important consensus reached by Chinese PresidentHu Jintaoand US President George W. Bush during their meeting in Bangkok,Thailand, should be implemented actively so that the relationship of constructive cooperation between the two countries can be developed and strengthened.

The two sides also expressed their willingness of pushing forward the six-party talks for a peaceful solution to the nuclear issue on the Korean peninsula, according to China'sMinistry of Foreign Affairs.

Powell, who is on his central-America trip, stressed again the US government's adherence to one-China policy. He also welcomed Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wang Yi to visit the United State in the near future.
