Consul General Hong Lei Participated in New Year Gala of China General Chamber of Commerce -USA Chicago

On December 7, Consul General Hong Lei participated in the new year gala of the China General Chamber of Commerce-USA Chicago accompanied by Commercial Counselor Zou Xiaoming. About 200 representatives from Chinese companies and local businessmen attended the gala.

In the speech, Hong Lei said that the mutual-visits of President Xi Jinping and President Trump in this year helped realize the smooth transition of China-US relations. Under the concerted efforts from both governments and business circles, the China-US trade and economic cooperation has made new achievements. The implementation of the 100-Day Action Plan has yielded great results. Bilateral contracts worth of 250 billion US dollars were signed during President Trump’s visit to China. From January to September, the trade volume between China and the Midwest States of America has reached 71.4 billion US dollars, with a year-on-year growth of 8.14%. Since the beginning of this year, China has invested in 18 companies with 2.1 billion US dollars, bringing substantial tax revenue and jobs for the locality. The China General Chamber of Commerce-USA Chicago has played an important role in promoting US-China trade and economic cooperation. Its second annual gala was held this year, where business representatives and Chinese entrepreneurs from the nine states in the Midwest were invited to business meetings which strongly facilitated bilateral cooperation.

Consul General Hong Lei said that the 19th CPC National Congress drew up the blue print for China’s development in the next 30 years. The in-depth opening-up policy was established, which will bring more opportunities to the international communities including the US. He wished that the Chinese companies could further cooperate with American business circles, promote China-US trade and economic cooperation and bring benefits to both American and Chinese people and people around the world.
